Hekate- Goddess of Magic

"Pyrophoros" (Fire-Bearer)

This painting project is a Mythology series depicting character illustration of the Goddess Hekate and her guardians. It is a commission by a student of Jason Miller's "Sorcery of Hekate" Cycle 10 in 2020.
This series is inspired by the student's visualization of Hekate's sorceress form.

These works were created by painting a coat of one color on a prepared piece of wood and left to dry. Then a second color painted, while the paint still wet, organic materials such as leaves, rocks, cut vegetables imprinted. Then, meditation upon the patterns created. Finally, illustrative images emerged by emphasizing these patterns that came to mind.
